Is the Tern Setups portable monitor compatible with my device?
Our portable monitors are compatible with ALL laptops and desktop computers. It’s possible to connect the external display in two ways. You can either use the included USB-C or HDMI cable.
Our monitors also work with tablets (both iOS and Android devices). Some iPad Pro M4 and M5 models may need to be connected via a Thunderbolt or USB-C to HDMI cable.
If you want to connect a USB-C monitor directly to a smartphone, the phone’s USB-C port must support DisplayPort (DP) Alt Mode. DP Alt Mode allows the USB-C port to carry video signals.
How does the monitor get power?
For most modern laptops, the monitor gets its power from the same USB-C cable that also carries the video, so there is no need for an external power supply. A power adapter is included in case the monitor needs external power.
The monitor is also capable of 40W power through delivery. This means that you can plug your laptop’s charger into the monitor and it will power the monitor and charge your laptop at the same time.
Why doesn’t my USB-C cable work?
The portable monitor comes with 2 USB-C cables. The cable labelled “Power Cable” is only meant for powering the monitor; it cannot carry video. Please use the second USB-C cable for video.
